Year 11 Surf Camp 2026

Dear Parent/Caregivers

RE: LEVEL 1 SURFING TRIP 2026

The Level 1 Sport Science/Recreation classes have the opportunity to take part in a three-day Surfing camp in support of their NCEA standards in Physical Education.

We will have two separate camps:

  • Camp 1 will be on Wednesday 11th March - Friday 13th March.
  • Camp 2 will be on Wednesday 18th March - Friday 20th March.

Due to camp dates conflicting with other school activities, students will be placed on a camp that accommodates these conflicts. A notification will be sent out closer to the time with the camp that your student will be attending.

The location of the surfing will be at Sandy Bay and the camping is in Matapouri. We will be travelling by minivan leaving school at 8.30am on the Wednesday and returning on the Friday of both camp weeks by 3.10pm in time for school buses.

A Gear list will be provided to students prior to the trip.

There is no charge for this course.

Please authorise permission for your student to attend this trip via the Skool Loop app.

If you have any queries or require more information please contact me via the school Main Office 0800437329.

Yours sincerely

Re: Mathematics Acceleration Programme (MAP)

Tikipunga High School is pleased to be offering the Mathematics Acceleration Programme (MAP). All Year 7 and 8 students will be offered the opportunity to participate in this 12-week numeracy acceleration programme during 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for students to attend four 30-minute tutorial sessions each week for 12 weeks, in addition to their regular mathematics programme. The programme is designed to strengthen numeracy skills, build confidence and support ongoing learning success.

More information can be found: https://newzealandcurriculum.tahurangi.education.govt.nz/maths-and-p-ngarau-years-7-and-8-intervention/5637284835.p

If you would prefer that your tamariki do not participate in the MAP programme, please contact the school.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us or your child’s classroom teacher. We look forward to working in partnership with you to support your tamariki’s learning.
